Girl Pulled from Swimming Pool Dies

Erica Alvarado, 17, was found unresponsive at the bottom of a residential swimming pool in the 9600 block of Wisteria Court in Bloomington, about 10 miles west of Redlands and Loma Linda.

A 17-year-old girl was pulled from a residential swimming pool Thursday in Boomington and despite rescuers' efforts she was pronounced deceased, the coroner reported Friday.

San Bernardino County firefighter-medics responded at 4:46 p.m. Aug. 16 to report of a female down in the 9600 block of Wisteria Court in Bloomington, according to the coroner.

"Upon arrival they found Erica Alvarado, a 17-year-old resident of Bloomington, had been found unresponsive at the bottom of the residential swimming pool," a coroner's statement said. "Alvarado had been pulled from the pool by a neighbor who initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation."

County Fire and American Medical Response personnel took over lifesaving efforts and transported Alvarado to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. Alvarado was pronounced dead at 5:28 p.m., the coroner reported.

An autopsy to determine cause of death was pending.
