Loma Linda Welcomes Visit from Rep. Gary Miller

Congressman Gary Miller learned about developments on campus, as well as the challenges of an academic medical center faces to remain a global leader, univeristy officials said.

Congressman Gary Miller (R-31st District) took a tour of some of the Loma Linda University’s facilities on April 2 and learned about developments on campus, as well as the challenges of an academic medical center faces to remain a global leader in clinical care, education and research.

Rep. Miller toured the renowned James M. Slater M.D. Proton Research and Treatment Center, the first hospital-based center in the world to deliver cutting-edge proton beam treatment for cancer, according to University officials.

“I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet with the leaders of this fine university. It is a true gem here in the 31st District, providing students with a quality, first-class education, and supporting thousands of jobs here in the Inland Empire,” Miller said through a written statement. The congressman called for a rededication to the region’s educational system during his visit.

District 31 includes the cities of Redlands, Grand Terrace, Loma Linda, San Bernardino, Fontana, Rialto, Colton, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga.
