Man Arrested After High Speed Chase

A 26-year-old led police on a pursuit through Loma Linda and San Bernardino.

A 26-year-old man, who Loma Linda Police said led police on a high speed chase through Loma Linda and San Bernardino, was arrested Saturday.

Bobby Aguirre, 26, was booked into the Central Detention Center on suspicion of felony obstruction of a peace officer and felony evading.

The incident began at 9:36 a.m. Saturday. An officer tried to pull over a black Nissan Altima in the area of Mountain View Avenue and Redlands Boulevard that sped off instead of stopping. The officer gave chase. During the pursuit, officials confirmed that the car had been reported stolen from San Bernardino in a carjacking the previous evening, officials said.

The driver, later identified as Aguirre, led deputies on a 14-minute pursuit through Loma Linda and San Bernardino, officials said. The PIT maneuver was attempted once but was unsuccessful, officials said.

The car was stopped on Fifth Street east of Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino and Aguirre was arrested, officers said. No one else was in the car.
