Blood Drive Scheduled Dec. 23 in Yucaipa

A blood drive is planned next Monday at Yucaipa Valley Center, a spokesman for the not-for-profit Lifestream blood center announced Monday.

The event is scheduled 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 23 at  33740 Yucaipa Blvd., Don Escalante of Lifestream said in a statement.

"Donors receive, while supplies last, a free movie ticket," Escalante said. "Donors also receive free cholesterol screening and Gift of Life Donor Loyalty points
that may be redeemed in the online donor store at www.LStream.org."

Healthy individuals 15 years of age and older may donate blood, Escalante said.
"Fifteen- and 16-year-olds must provide LifeStream with written parental consent," Escalante said. "Parent consent forms are available at any donor center, community blood drive or at www.LStream.org."

All prospective donors should be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis, Escalante said. Donors receive a free mini-physical as part of the donation process.
