Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is Feb. 15. Here are a few things you might want to know today.

CHANCE OF RAIN: Rain is in the forecast. The National Weather Service predicts a 20 percent chance of rain after 10 a.m. in our area. The day should be mostly cloudy with a high near 64 degrees, weather officials said. Overnight, more rain is expected likely after 4 a.m. The low was expected to be about 52.

PUBLIC SPEAKING: Toastmasters will meet at the Loma Linda Veterans Administration starting at noon in room 4D-26.

CRAFT DAY: The Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California is scheduled to hold a family craft event. The event is open to children and their loved ones who have been affected by cancer. Anyone interested in participating needs to call for time and location.

SPECIAL CANINES: Here’s advanced notice on a March event. Guide Dogs of the Desert will host A Bunco Afternoon
 on March 20.

GOLDEN MEMORIES: Monday I got to spend some time with some of the warmest group of people. I got to interview three couples, all married for 50 years or more. They all still very much in love. Each had a touching story of love and devotion. Among the memorable comments came from 70-year-old Mary Burns, “I saw him and I said, ‘I’m going to go on a date with him if it kills me.' ”
