Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is March 16. Here are a few things you may want to know today.

SUNNY OR WINDY?: The Hazardous Weather Outlook remains in effect tonight for Loma Linda and the surrounding area. While it looked ibeautiful, National Weather Service officials say gusty winds are supposed to sweep the area. Otherwise, the day should be mostly sunny with a high near 76 degrees. Wednesday night should be partly cloudy with a low around 50 degrees, weather officials said. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph, officials said.

YUMMY MOTIVATION: Now here’s a prize I’m sure a few youngsters can get behind, the Loma Linda Public Library is awarding In-N-Out gift certificates for children 12 and under who check out and read 5 books. The event is scheduled to run until supplies last or April 16, whichever comes first. The library is at 25581 Barton Road. Information: (909) 796-8621

ANIME TOPIC: Back at the library, this months Teen Anime Club will feature “Bamboo Blade,” (TV-14). The group meets at 5 p.m. is free and open to ages 13-18.
Teens are welcome to come and watch anime, discuss it with friends and practice drawing skills.

NEW SIGNS: Some of you may have already noticed that the city’s new monument signs have been installed. My humble opinion is they look good. Sleek and illuminated, they are eye catching. I included a picture of the new signs - a rare thing with the Five Things column.

THANKS PTA: I wanted to thank Bryn Mawr Elementary School Principal Jim O’Neill and the members of the school’s PTA. They welcomed me to a recent meeting. It was great to see how well the group works together and how much fun they have. Officials remind parents that the school is currently on a year-round schedule so Bryn Mawr students are not on Spring break this week.
