Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is April 12. Here are a few things you may want to know today.

STAYING STEADY: After last week’s chilly temps, I suspect most of us are fine with temperatures in the 70’s. National Weather Service officials predict a sunny day with a high near 72 degrees. Then we drop in temps. Forecasters expect patchy fog after 11 p.m. with increasing clouds and a low around 48 degrees.

CHILDREN’S TALES: Book time again. Barnes & Noble Children's Department will host Tuesday Morning Preschool Storytime starting at 11 a.m. The bookstore is in the Citrus Plaza Shopping Center, 27460 Lugonia Ave. in Redlands. (909) 793-4322. I know I run this almost every time this comes along. But I am always such a soft touch when it comes to reading. My favorites were and always will be “Where the Wild Things Are” and “Caps for Sale.”

BUSINESS EXPO: Loma Linda Chamber of Commerce will hold its Business Expo 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the Stater Bros Parking Lot, 25630 Barton Road. Information: (909) 799-2828

COUNCIL MEETS: A reminder that the Loma Linda City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. The council will be designating a delegate and alternate to attend the Southern California Association of Government General Assembly, May 5-6 in La Quinta.

PROVIDING AID: National Adventist Development and Relief Agency reports that torrential rains in the last weeks of March have impacted thousands in Southern Thailand. The flooding has “ravaged” 2,763 villages and affected more than 310,406 households. In partnership with Bangkok Adventist Hospital, ADRA Thailand has distributed 1,000 emergency care packages in this area. The ADRA organization represents Adventist churches from Loma Linda and around the world.
