Five Things You Need To Know Today

Today is April 18. Here are a few things you might want to know today.

COOLING TEMPS: The cool down continues today – which some of us really don’t mind. National Weather Service officials expect areas of fog before 11 a.m. Eventually that will give way to a cloudy then mostly sunny day with a high near 75 degrees. Tonight should be mostly cloudy with a low around 54 degrees.

TAX DEADLINE: Are you done with your taxes? You have until midnight tonight to file. The Internal Revenue Service even lets you do it online. For more information check out the IRS website.

TO BE, ACTING: The Redlands Theatre Festival in Prospect Park is looking for some serious actors to participate this season’s productions. The theater group has scheduled auditions from 6 – 10 tonight at the Crafton Hills College theater. Several works are scheduled through all the season, so please be prepared to list all potential scheduling conflicts from May 8-Aug. 20. All assignments and rehearsal schedule will be announced at the first company meeting on May 1. To audition, please prepare one dramatic or comedic monologue from a Broadway play, not to exceed 3 minutes. A resume and headshot are requested. Technical positions and internships are available. Please contact: Shannon at Manelebayb@aol.com for more information. Check their website for more options. Crafton Hills College is located at 11711 Sand Canyon Road in Yucaipa.

STRONG HEART: And now for an, ‘Aha!” The American Heart Association has a few tips how to deal with a child who is a picky eater. Many great suggestions, many most of us parents should already know. The best and most obvious one is No. 3, Don’t buy unhealthy snacks. You can check out the rest on their website.

SAY A PRAYER: Steven’s Hope is asking its supporters to keep Baby Lily in their prayers. I don’t know much about that child except that staffers at Steven’s Hope say she went home a few short weeks ago but was readmitted to Loma Linda University Medical Center on Friday. “Things have begun to improve slightly, but she will still need lots of prayers to get her through this tough time,” staffers said through Facebook.
