Five Things You Need To Know Today

Today is April 25. Here are a few things you might want to know today.

POSSIBLE WIND: I can’t say how cool or how windy it’s going to be today. But National Weather Service officials have issued a hazardous weather outlook for the areas around Loma Linda because of wind. Officials predict today will cloudy through mid-morning, gradually clearing. The should be near 76 degrees. Tonight forecasters predict some patchy fog after 11 p.m. Otherwise it should be partly cloudy with a low around 51 degrees.

TEACHERS DAY: A reminder to parents of Loma Linda Academy students, today is Teacher Inservice Day. There are no classes. Classes resume on Tuesday. Information: (909) 796-0161

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Organizers of the Steven’s Hope for Children Golf Tournament are looking for volunteers to help running the event. The tourney is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. May 12 at the Sierra La Verne Country Club. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to email amber_shfc@hotmail.com.

SPEAKING UP: The Loma Linda City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday. The public is welcomed and encouraged to bring up any issues they would like to see addressed. Residents have until noon today to request an item be placed on the May 10 City Council agenda. It must be submitted in writing to the City Clerk.

HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE: Now here’s a tip I wish I had seen before today. But it might be useful if you have leftover plastic eggs. The American Heart Association says forget the candy. Fill Easter eggs with heart-healthy, whole grain cereal, dried fruit or granola.
