Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is June 13. Here are a few things happening in and around your neighborhood.

HEAT IS COMING: Still a week until summer officially begins, but its weather is on its way. Today will feature the early morning fog, that will burn off to a high near 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Overnight, the clouds will stay away for clear skies, and a low around 58 degrees. The heat comes in for good Tuesday, with an expected high around 90 degrees.

NURSING INFORMATION: Loma Linda University's school of nursing will have an informational session about its programs at 6 p.m. today in the West Hall. Faculty will be available to answer questions and talk to potential students. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP by email to nursing@llu.edu, and include the degree they want to pursue and number of people attending. There also will be similar sessions Sept. 15 and Dec. 5. For information, go to the school's website.

SUMMER MEALS: Colton Joint Unified School District is offering free nutritious meals to youths age 18 and under at two sites starting today. Meals will be offered Mondays through Fridays at Colton and Bloomington high schools, and must be eaten on site. No registration or identification is needed to participate. Bloomington High will serve breakfast from 7:35 to 8:05 a.m. and lunch from 10 to 10:20 a.m. Meals will be served at Colton High from 8:35 to 9:05 a.m. and 11 to 11:20 a.m. For information, visit the district's website.

HONORING GRADS: Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program will congratulate the people who completed courses from its adult and general educational development programs with a graduation ceremony Wednesday at Redlands East Valley High School. Tickets are limited for the event, which will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the school's Blackstone Theatre. For information or tickets, call (909) 793-3115.
