Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is June 17. Here are a few things going on in and around your community.

JUNE GLOOM: That's what the weather forecast is calling for more of today. The National Weather Service is predicting more early morning clouds that are supposed to burn off throughout the day, with the high reaching around 78 degrees. The patchy fog and clouds will return overnight, with an overnight low around 57 degrees.

LOCAL COMEDY: Looking for some laughs? The Fox Events Center in Redlands will have a dinner comedy show tonight. Dinner will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m., with seating for the show only begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for dinner and the show, and $10 for the show only. The Fox Events Center is at 123 Cajon St. in Redlands. For information, you can visit the VJ Productions' event website.

WHAT A DOLL: Collectors and exhibitors will be at the National Orange Show this weekend for the Exhibitor's Association Ceramic Doll Show. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday, the event will feature exhibitors from across the country, and include a competition for the best dolls in various categories. Entry is $7 per person, but you can get a $2 off coupon, and more information, on the event's website.

JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION: The SixNineteen Committee is sponsoring a day of community outreach and discussion in honor of Juneteenth, with an event Saturday at the A.K. Smiley Library in Redlands. Co-sponsored by the California Democratic Party African American Caucus, the event will feature a screening of the NAACP Image award-winning documentary "For Love of Liberty - The Story of America's Black Civil War Patriots," a reception, speeches and a panel discussion.
