Five Things You Need to Know Today

Today is July 19. Here are a few things going on in and around your neighborhood.

ANOTHER PEAK? The National Weather Service forecast for today has a bit of good news: Today should be the hottest day of the next week or so. The forecast is calling for a high around 99 degrees. Overnight will remain mostly clear, but the winds may pick up as the temperature should be around 66 degrees.

SENIOR MEETING: The Loma Linda Senior Center Board will have its regular meeting today at 1 p.m. in the community room at Loma Linda City Hall. The board will discuss the members roles and duties going forward, as well as getting updates on the nutrition program and the center's budget for the next year.

MUSIC AT THE BOWL: The Redlands Bowl Summer Music Program continues tonight with a violin/fiddle concert titled "Sound Track of the World" by the cast of "Barrage." Community sing will begin at 7:15 p.m., with the main performance starting at 8:15 p.m. All concerts at the Bowl are free.

PHARMACY SEMINAR: The Inland Compound Pharmacy is offering a lecture on bio-identical horomone replacement therapy at 7 p.m. Thursday at its offices, 24747 Redlands Blvd., Suite F. Raylene L. Mote, Pharm.D., will discuss the benefits and options available to patients seeking treatment. Cost of the lecture is $40, which includes a $15 discount on the patient's first consultation with a pharmacist. Space is limited. Call (909) 478-3842 for information and reservations.

BURGER TIME: Went out to Redlands and tried Eureka Burger for the first time Monday, and left quite impressed. It always makes me a little skittish when I look down and see a burger and fries priced over $8. But, man, the flavor is going to blow you away. And even if you're a vegetarian, they have an option for you with their Loma Linda Burger, which is made with a red beet patty topped with arugula, tomato, onion and lemon vinaigrette dressing topped with zucchini pickles.
