Hats Off To Winners and Supporters of PossAbilites

A recap of the April 17 event.

Congratulations to all the participants, supporters and organizers of the recent Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus ninth annual PossAbilities Triathlon.

More than 800 people participated in the event, held on April 17. Chris Stehula, 26, of San Luis Obispo, was the overall winner of the triathlon, finishing in 45 minutes and 39 seconds Fermin Camarena, 57, from San Juan Capistrano, was the first-place finisher in the challenged-male division. Umido Lesicko, 18, of San Marcos, was the top challenged female.

A highlight of the event was the Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus administrator Michael Jackson accepting a check for $300,000 on behalf of PossAbilities from Chairman James C. Ramos of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has been a main sponsor of the event for nine years.

It’s not too late to try to bring home a brand new luxury car and to help the kids at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital while you’re at it.

Walter’s Automotive Group in Riverside is providing a luxury car for the opportunity drawing to be held Aug. 19. Only 1,400 tickets, at $100 each, will be sold for the opportunity drawing, which benefits the Children’s Hospital.

The winner has a choice of a 2012 Audi A5, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK350, Mercedes-Benz C300, Porsche Boxster, two Smart cars, or a Sprinter Commercial Van. Additional prizes will be awarded, including a $2,500 ladies’ white gold diamond bracelet, valued at $2,500, provided by K Norris Jeweler; a 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Weekend VIP Package, provided by Auto Club Speedway; and a men’s Mercedes-Benz watch, valued at $450, provided by Walter’s Automotive Group.
