Loma Linda Fire Seeks Community's Support

The department is hosting a fundraiser this weekend and a toy drive. They hope the community will come out in large numbers to support the causes.

The Loma Linda Fire Department’s holiday fundraisers are in full swing and crews are hoping the communities will come out and show their support.

On Saturday and Sunday firefighters will host their second annual Pictures with Santa event from noon – 4 p.m. Youngsters will get to meet Santa and maybe get a tasty candy treat.

Pictures cost $5 for a 4x6 Christmas card or $10 packages are also available. Families will also have an opportunity to tour the station, at 25541 Barton Road.

Proceeds benefit Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Loma Linda Firefighters Association. The association is working to raise money for a 9/11 Memorial that will feature a piece of steel salvaged from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

The steel beam was brought to Loma Linda by the firefighters association and dedicated during a Sept. 8 ceremony.

Guests of picture day are also encouraged to take part in the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Just bring a new, unwrapped toy or piece of sports equipment to fire station. The drive will continue for several days. Please check with the station for the deadline.

The toys go to benefit those in our communities who are in need.
