Speaking of Women's Health Tickets On Sale Tuesday

The event will be held Nov. 18 in Riverside.

It’s still a few months away, but Speaking of Women’s Health tickets go on sale July 5.

The Loma Linda University Medical Center sponsored event will be held Nov. 18 at the Riverside Convention Center. The health and wellness event features breakout sessions, keynote speakers, free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, lunch and more. Tickets are $40.

“Tickets go on sale early partly because we like to give people some time to buy the tickets, and because we have quite a few to sell,” said Beverly Rigsby, service line development director, GYN, women’s urology, ENT, and robotic and minimally invasive services. “We have 750, and it takes some time to sell those. It’s hard to tell how quickly it’ll sell out, so we give ourselves some lead time.”

The word is being spread across the Inland Empire.

“We have a billboard on the 10 freeway that says when tickets go on sale, and a banner over Anderson Street in Loma Linda,” said Rigsby. “We have a website where you can buy tickets, and as we get information we put it on there. We have newspaper ads and mailers that we send out, and we are mailing quite a few save the date cards this year. We also will have an email blast to all the people who attended before and have been on the waiting list.”

Planning takes several months, and usually begins in January after the holidays.

“It gets really heavy right about now, because we need all the logistics ready to go for ticket sales,” Rigsby said. “It gets particularly busy late September and October.”

This year, there will be some changes to the event.

“We’ve tweaked it quite a bit,” Rigsby said. “This is our fourth, and every year we sort of play with what works and what doesn’t. This year instead of two keynotes, we’ll have one in the morning and a book feature in the afternoon. We’re going to give everyone a book and have a video segment with the author. The lunchtime segment is going to be all about giving back in various forms.”

Even though this year’s event is still months away, organizers are already thinking ahead to 2012.

“We start looking at things for goody bags and speakers that would be perfect for next year, and breakout topics,” Rigsby said. “I try and do two years in advance because it gives you a really good head start.”
