Auditions have been scheduled for a new, all-original musical celebrating the City of Redlands 125th Anniversary.
The musical, “Redlands, My Redlands” will be presented at the University of Redlands Memorial Chapel on Nov. 15 and 16. It is a fun, light-hearted review of the high points (and some low ones) in the 125-year history of Redlands.
Co-written by Jim Skousen and Alexis Rafter, of Redlands, the show will largely feature original music composed and arranged by Jeffery Hunter, of Riverside, and Jeff Moore, of Highland. Tina Skousen, of Redlands, is musical director. Dan Robinson and Daniel Bachman, of Redlands, are technical advisors.
Open auditions for this musical are being held Saturday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Joslyn Senior Center, 21 Grant St. Adults and children 8 years and up are encouraged to audition. Those auditioning should bring music in their key and prepare to sing 16 bars from an upbeat Broadway musical number. An accompanist will be provided. They will also be taught a dance step and should dress accordingly. Be prepared to list any conflicts in the rehearsal schedule.
In addition, technicians, artists and designers are needed. Anyone interested in backstage and technical roles is encouraged to fill out an information sheet on audition day.
The production is sponsored by the City of Redlands 125th Anniversary Committee and the Redlands Area Interfaith Council.
