Staff with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Mobile Art+Film Lab screened John Huston's 1961 feature film The Misfits outdoors after sundown Saturday June 22 near the U of R Quad.
The drama features Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable in their final film roles, as well as Montgomery Clift, and it's based on a screenplay by Arthur Miller. It was shot in a desert landscape near Reno, Nevada.
Despite on-set difficulties, Gable, Monroe, and Clift delivered performances considered superb by some modern movie critics, according to the site Rotten Tomatoes.
Mobile Art+Film Lab staff plan to host a free workshop on film composition 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday June 23 at U of R. Topics will include shot size, depth of field, quality of light, and camera movement.
Mobile Art+Film Lab workshops and screenings, June 7 through July 7, are presented by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in collaboration with the University of Redlands. For more info and a complete schedule visit http://lacma.org/art/collection/lacma9-art-film-lab.
