Highland Man Killed in I-210 Crash

A Highland man was killed this morning when his vehicle veered out of control and struck a big rig parked along the right shoulder of Interstate 210 in San Bernardino.

The crash was reported at 12:05 a.m. May 15. The 26-year-old driver of a 1993 Honda was speeding eastbound on I- 210, west of H Street when, for unknown reasons, he veered toward the back of a semi truck-trailer combination, parked on the shoulder, and slammed into it, according to a news release issued by California Highway Patrol officer Leon Lopez.

The Honda’s driver died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, identified as a 46-year-old Coalinga man, suffered minor injuries, Lopez wrote. There is also some question as to whether the 26-year-old driver was wearing his seatbelt, Lopez wrote.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, officials said. Highway Patrol investigators ask anyone who witnessed the crash to call the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Area at (909) 383-4247.
