Airport Leader Set to Serve on Federal Board

The head of the city's airport department was appointed to the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Los Angeles branch, it was announced today.

Gina Marie Lindsey -- who oversees the operation of three city-owned airports, including Los Angeles/Ontario International Airport, as executive director of Los Angeles World Airports -- joined the board Jan. 1.

Several cities from the east end of Los Angeles County into San Bernardino and Riverside have been lobbying the airport department to transfer Ontario's airport to local control.

The federal bank's San Francisco office, part of the Federal Reserve System that serves as the country's central bank, wholesales banking services to financial institutions in nine western states and has branches in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and Salt Lake City.

The Federal Reserve System sets monetary policy, regulates banks, implements consumer protection laws and represents the U.S. government in financial matters.

The Los Angeles branch's board of directors also includes Keith E. Smith, president of Boyd Gaming Corp.; James A. Hughes, CEO of First Solar; David I. Rainer, president of California United Bank; Peggy Tsiang Cherng, co- CEO of Panda Restaurant Group Inc.; and John C. Molina, CFO of Molina Healthcare Inc.
