AT&T Outage Affects Thousand of Local Customers

As many as 1,000 cell towers went down affecting mostly Los Angeles customers.

AT&T officials reported today that as many as 1,000 of their cell towers went down tonight, affecting service to tens of thousands of customers mostly in the Los Angeles area, according to broadcast reports.

AT&T officials told reporters that equipment failure caused the problem. They do not expect the equipment to be repaired and fully operational until at least 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, accroding to City News Service report.

Customers reported having trouble making and receiving calls, but text messaging and sending and receiving data had not been affected, the report said.
