Biological Contaminant at Loma Linda Hospital? Nope, Just a Drill
A drill in which LLUMC staff deal with a biological contaminant in the drinking water supply is deemed a success by hospital officials.
Congratulations to all the participants in the successful statewide disaster drill on Nov. 17.
At Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital, medical staff took on their assigned roles at the drill, which involved a scenario where a biological contaminant was found in the drinking water supply, and the water supply system needed to be shut down.
During the drill, the Hospital Command Center was set up, and employees were alerted about the situation and the need to abstain from consuming and using water from public sources. The staff took on their assigned roles to protect themselves, as well as the hospital’s patients and visitors. The hospital’s communications and water distribution systems were tested, as well.
