“Our heroes include military personnel, firefighters, law enforcement officers and others who make our communities a better place to live,” according to the program’s website.

This program was created after the tragic events of Sept. 11 as a way to thank the men and women who serve their communities. Heroes who sign up are matched them with Homes for Heroes Affiliates in their area.
