High Fashion Helps Fight Cancer

Department of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center will sponsor "The Pink Runway" Breast Cancer Fashion Show. The show features cancer survivors.

The world of high fashion is set to arrive in the area, courtesy of breast cancer survivors who will model the latest at “The Pink Runway” third annual Breast Cancer Fashion Show.

The highly anticipated event, organized by the Department of Plastic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center, is set for 4 p.m. on Sept. 25, at the Riverside Convention Center, 3443 Orange St., Riverside. General admission tickets are $30 and may be purchased online at ThePinkRunway.com. Proceeds from the event will benefit the department’s breast cancer reconstruction education and research efforts.

Breast cancer survivors who have undergone breast reconstruction will model the clothes provided by Macy’s. Guests will also be treated to delicious food prior to the show.

“We look forward to staging the ‘Pink Runway’ Breast Cancer Fashion Show and making more breast cancer survivors aware of an important option for them to improve their quality of life,” said Dr. Subhas Gupta, chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery and Chief of Surgical Services for Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The Department of Family Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Susan Saucedo. Dr. Saucedo is a graduate of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles in 2007. Additionally, Dr. Saucedo has completed a fellowship in Faculty Development at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2008, a fellowship in Minority Health Policy at Harvard Medical School in 2010, and a MPH at Harvard Medical School in 2010. 

Bringing with her a passion for health equity with a particular interest in social determinants of health, Dr. Saucedo joined our group on September 6, to see patients in the faculty practice and participate in the education of future physicians. She is fluent in English and Spanish. 

The Department of Medicine is pleased to introduce Madhavi Vetsa, MBBS. Dr. Vetsa joins the Loma Linda University Department of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. She is Board-certified in internal medicine. Dr. Vetsa’s clinical practice specialties include irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and pancreaticobiliary disorders.

Dr. Vetsa graduated from the Osmania Medical College in India with an MBBS. She completed residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center, and subsequently was appointed Chief Medical Resident at Loma Linda University Medical Center for the 2007-2008 academic year. She recently completed fellowship training in gastroenterology, and is certified in a number of procedures. She has also been active in research, which includes a number of presentations and poster sessions.

The Department of Ophthalmology is pleased to welcome Dr. Charles C.H. Kim. Dr. Kim is a fellowship-trained orbital and oculoplastic surgeon specializing in medical and surgical conditions that affect the orbit, eyelids and tear duct system. Dr. Kim has a special interest in the medical and surgical management of thyroid eye disease or Graves disease.

Dr. Kim grew up in Texas and obtained his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. After graduating from the Texas A&M College of Medicine, Dr. Kim served five years active duty as a Naval Flight Surgeon for helicopter and jet squadrons and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander.

Dr. Kim completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh, where he served as chief resident and received the honor of Most Outstanding Senior Resident. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in orbital and oculoplastic surgery at Allegheny General Hospital.  

The Department of Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Kevin Codorniz to our Endocrine practice. Dr. Codorniz is a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at here in 2008. Dr. Codorniz completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of California, Irvine in June 2011.  He joined our group in July 2011, to see adult patients in the FMO Endocrine clinic, as well as providing inpatient care and resident teaching.

The Department of Medicine is pleased to welcome Dr. Aya Eguchi. Dr. Eguchi is a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at here in March 2011.  Dr. Eguchi joined our group in July 2011, to see adult patients in the FMO General Medicine clinic. She is fluent in English and Japanese.
