Loma Linda Dentistry Program to Offer Associate of Science Degree

Loma Linda University School of Dentistry's launched the program on Nov. 28 in Palm Desert.

Professionals from Loma Linda are making their expertise available to folks throughout the region.

On Nov. 28, a successful open house and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Pointe Monterey Business Park in Palm Desert to officially mark the opening of the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry’s dental hygiene Associate of Science degree program that started this fall.

The ceremony was attended by a number of students, faculty, administrators, city and elected officials and members of the community, who all wished success for the program. They were welcomed by Loma Linda University President Richard Hart.

Palm Desert Mayor Pro Tem Robert A. Spiegel described the program as “a wonderful thing for our city and for the Coachella Valley as a whole” since it will allow students to study and receive training closer to home.

The new program will enroll 28 students annually, including a large number expected from nearby College of the Desert. The program is located at 34-280 Gateway Drive, Palm Desert.

On Dec. 8, surgeons from Loma Linda University Health Care Department of Plastic Surgery will host a “holiday open house” at their clinic in Riverside.

The event is from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Loma Linda University Health Care Department of Plastic Surgery Clinic, 3762 Tibbetts Street in Riverside.

The Open House, set for Thursday, Dec. 8, will feature a live demonstration of Dermapen, a newly-approved technology that will offer patients an “in-between” alternative between chemical peels and lasers.

“Our surgeons have become well known for employing the most advanced technology and techniques in plastic surgery, and we are glad to let the public get a better understanding of what we do,” said Dr. Subhas Gupta, chairman of Loma Linda University Health Care Department of Plastic Surgery.

“We are very excited to host a Holiday Open House, which is a wonderful opportunity for people in the region to be introduced to the latest technology and services available to help them look and feel better,” he said.
