Photographer Creates Images to Celebrate Local Veterans, Local History

A local photographer recently worked with models, hairstylists and make-up artists from communities including Redlands and Yucaipa to create images to celebrate local military veterans and local history.

The photos by Sarah Rios of Falcon Fotos helped commemorate Veterans Day 2012, and Rios said Monday night it is thanks to members of VFW 233 Desert Edge Post of Beaumont.

"I made them to celebrate the spirit of VFW volunteerism in Beaumont and the Pass," said Rios, who is based in the Beaumont-Cherry Valley area. "They do a lot of volunteer work here and we wanted to recognize them."

The photo shoot that resulted in the images attached to this report was July 1, 2012, at Beaumont Women's Club and the Desert Edge Post on East 4th Street in Beaumont.

"Some of the clothing the models are wearing came from local antique shops in Beaumont," Rios said. "These gentlemen were serving in the era, the '40s and '50s, that we wanted to recreate. We really appreciate them working with us to create these images. It's about appreciating veterans and local history."
