Tea Party Hosts Congressional Forum

Candidates in the 8th and 31st congressional districts have been invited to the forum on Thursday Sept. 6 at Mill Creek Cattle Co., 1874 Mentone Blvd. in Mentone.

The Redlands Tea Party is planning to host a forum for congressional candidates in the 8th and 31st districts on Thursday Sept. 6 in Mentone.

Gregg Imus, R-Blue Jay, and state Assemblyman Paul Cook, R-Yucca Valley, are facing off the 8th Congressional District. Imus' supporters include the Mountain Area Tea Party and groups.

Rep. Gary Miller, R-Diamond Bar, is running for re-election in the 31st District against state Sen. Bob Dutton, R-Rancho Cucamonga. Miller currently represents the 42nd Congressional District.

The 31st District includes Redlands and Loma Linda.

"We’ve invited all four candidates in the 8th and 31st district," a recent Redlands Tea Party announcement stated. "We've received confirmation from all but Paul Cook. We look forward to and anticipate his attendance as well . . .

"As our forums usually go, we'll have a moderated question period with all four candidates on the stage after which we’ll take questions from the floor. Be sure to have questions, not comments . . . Our interest is to get these candidates in front of you and have them share their goals for congress and for the country."

The forum is scheduled during the Redlands Tea Party general meeting, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday Sept. 6 at , 1874 Mentone Blvd. in Mentone.

A speaker is expected to precede the forum. Dr. Adrian Moore from the Reason Foundation will talk about High Speed Rail and Light Rail projects opposed by the Redlands Tea Party.

On Friday Sept. 7, the group has scheduled a fundraiser at a private residence in Redlands. Members are invited to meet 8th District candidate Imus and Redlands City Council candidate Lane Schneider.
