Career Expo at CSUSB to bring education and government employers

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- The College of Education and the Career Center at Cal State San Bernardino will host a career fair on Tuesday, March 11, from 4-7 p.m.

The expo will be held in the atrium of CSUSB’s College of Education building. It is free and open to the public. Parking on campus is $5 per vehicle.

In the past, two separate career fairs were held; one focused on recruiting prospective credential students into education careers while the Career Center focused on bringing employers from government agencies and school districts.

Now the two fairs are combined in an effort to place prospective education students, including undergrads seeking credentials and credential students pursuing a master’s in education, and school district employers and governmental agencies together in one location.

Organizers of the event said this is a more convenient method of paring up prospective credential and master’s students, as well as job-seeking alumni, with potential employers.

A sampling of school districts that will be present include San Bernardino, Riverside, Corona-Norco, Morongo, Palm Springs and Oakland, among many others.

Some government agencies scheduled to participate include the Social Security Administration, U.S. Pretrial Services and the Fontana Police Department. Several service organizations such as the Peace Corps and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Inland Empire will also be present.

“Current credential and master’s students in education can browse through the many booths of potential employers, and meet with school district representatives and government agency recruiters about career prospects,” said Arlena Allende, student recruitment specialist in the College of Education.

Undergraduate students, current credential and master’s students will also have the opportunity to explore academic programs that will expand their career options in education or counseling.
