CSUSB returns to U.S. News & World Report rankings again this year

San Bernardino, Calif. -- Cal State San Bernardino has once again been ranked among the top colleges and universities in the western United States by U.S. News & World Report, tied for 17th among the Top Regional Public Universities in the West and tied for 57th among all western universities for regional public institutions that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s degree programs.

Considered one of the most influential and anticipated annual recognitions for colleges and universities throughout the nation, the U.S. News & World Report rankings were announced in the 2014 America’s Best Colleges guidebook, which will be on newsstands on Sept. 24.

“I am very pleased that Cal State San Bernardino continues to be recognized among the top universities in the West,” said CSUSB President Tomás Morales. “We take great pride in our institution, and to be included in the U.S. News & World Report rankings is a tribute to the outstanding commitment and work of our dedicated faculty, staff, administration and students. CSUSB truly is a great university, thanks to the collaborative efforts of everyone in our campus community.”

Cal State San Bernardino also was ranked among the best undergraduate business programs, as well as its graduate level in fine arts, public affairs, rehabilitation counseling, social work and part-time M.B.A. programs.

A total of 621 universities were classified as regional universities for the 2014 guidebook, and of that group, 262 are public schools, 347 private and 12 are for-profit. U.S. News & World Report also evaluated 281 institutions that were classified as national universities, 248 that were national liberal arts colleges and 367 that were regional colleges. The regional universities and regional colleges were placed into one of four geographic categories (North, South, Midwest and West).
