Summertime: the smell of the barbecue, the roar of holiday crowds at events throughout the land, family picnics and the beach. It's America's annual birthday party and everyone is invited. While celebrating, let’s take the time to reflect on the reasoning behind this "holiday" and to also remember that this holiday is an effort by our nation to call a corporate "time out." As we take time to relax in " unhurried leisure", lets also contemplate the reasoning behind Psalm 46:10 : "Be Still and know that I am God." Meaning-- in the midst of our nation facing a variety of challenges, to know that we are not alone.
