Republican Cluelessness Makes 2016 Look Good

A large number of Republicans seem to be determined to double down on the same bad ideas that cost them election.

You would think after trotting out a sorry presidential candidate in the general election and getting soundly beaten in both the popular vote  and the Electoral College, the Republican party would have learned its lesson and started doing some serious introspection.

And it seems there is a small, but determined wing that is serious about looking at the GOP's flaws. In the Daily Beast Meghan McCain, one of the few moderate Republicans, said, "Times are changing. The face of America is changing and we as Republicans stand at a crossroads. Are we going to accept the changing face of America and change with it? Or are we going to continue to become more isolated and irrelevant? It’s possible to maintain the core values of this party and evolve when it comes to social issues. Quite frankly, I don’t see any other path to success."

However, there are a large number of Republicans who are determined to double down on the same bad ideas that cost them election. The GOP lost because the party is mainly focused on catering to white Americans, the fastest shrinking demographic in the country. But instead of reaching out to Latinos and other ethnic minorities that made up President Obama's broad-based coalition, what do they do? More of the same.

Here are some examples:

  • Mitt Romney blamed his loss on the fact that Obama had bribed his constituency with free stuff. I guess George W. Bush's tax cuts and the Medicare drug benefit were paid for?
  • Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan continued digging by saying that Obama won, because of the large turnout in "urban" areas. Urban has been used as a substitute word for black and Latino.
  • In Maine, Charlie Webster, state chairman of the GOP, stuck his foot in his mouth, when he said that the GOP lost because mysterious gangs of black people turned up at the polls. Maine, by the way, is less than 2 percent black.
  • And Rush Limbaugh, who is one of the highest profile mouthpiece's in the GOP,  recently went on a rant where he lumped illegal immigrants in with all Hispanics.  This should not be surprising, Rush has been doing his race-baiting shtick for 20 years, at this stage it's all he knows.

Apparently, the GOP hasn't learned that calling minority voters dupes and cheats is not the best way to attract them. Four years is a long time, but at this rate I can see the GOP losing the mid-terms and the next presidential election.

You would think that in the face of glaring losses and rapidly changing demographics, the GOP would be forced to change, but it still isn't. I suspect the reason is because of the right-wing media.

As I said before, the right-wing media is a hindrance to the Republican party, because it tells Conservatives what they want to hear, and not what they need to know. David Frum, a former George W. Bush speech writer, says Republicans have been lied to and exploited by a "conservative entertainment complex." The right-wing media, and FOX in particular, is like a general with a lousy intelligence unit. If your spies are lying to you, don't surprised if your troops march into a massacre.

Judging by the reactions to Obama's win, many people in the GOP still don't get it. In their minds, Obama won because he cheated, even though there were at least two incidences of Republicans being arrested for voter fraud; Obama suppressed the vote, even though there were long lines in black neighborhoods, and machines were seen to change votes to Romney; and blacks and Latinos only voted for Obama, because they were not smart enough to vote Romney.

So let me get this straight, the Republicans are still clueless to reality and even though Obama got the lion share of blacks, Latinos, Asians and women, they still have no idea of how to reach out to them. Alrighty then, 2016 is looking better every day.

Baracka Claus is Coming to Town http://dailyrushbo.com/rush-baracka-claus-is-coming-to-town-song-parody/ Ron Paul asked why is liberty a hard sell. It is hard to persuade many people to say no to Baracka Claus and “yes” to liberty, opportunity (to succeed or fail) and individual responsibility (for your success or failure).

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, #9 “Pennsylvania's Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) is slashing the hours of 400 adjunct instructors, support staff, and part-time instructors to dodge paying for Obamacare.” "If they are doing it at CCAC, it can't be long before they do it other places." Really, who could have imagined that would happen? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/21/Surprise-PA-College-Slashes-Hours-To-Avoid-Obamacare Obamacare is entirely the creature and creation of Obama and the Dem party. They get all of the credit and all of the blame for the results of Obamacare. [We all know about Obama taking credit and responsibility, Bin Laden vs. Benghazi.] If Obamacare is implemented, I am not sure a Dem will get elected dog catcher in San Francisco.

It is not that Republicans are clueless - they are too honest. Obama is a sly - In order to appeal for all he will say anything. Romney is not good at fooling people and it showed. The younger generation don't know how to work hard - they want easy money. The teachers brain washed our young and that is the result of this election. The people who are getting free staff that Obama gives to retain the power have no clue who is paying for it (NO, it is not Obama!). Hard truth - many are happy to stay home with free staff!

I know most of you did not read Obama's book or saw the documentary movie based on his book. Obama is brilliant in deception and knew how to manipulate people: especially White people. He knew Black and Hispanic will follow Democrats, no matter who runs. He used racism for his favor. "Vote for REVENGE!" - this statement tell you who is Obama. You are fooled America ...Obama will bring down this country on behalf of all the countries we "done wrong".

These responses show me that Reps are still clueless.

I suspect most Republicans (and perhaps some Democrats) have no idea of the Consent Decree which will render the Republicans a losing hand at every major election.
Gregory Brittain November 23, 2012 at 02:06 AM
Reps should try to figure out why 3 million fewer Reps voted in 2012 than 2008.

For the fourth straight year, Obama did not mention God in his Thanksgiving message. Who are we giving thanks to? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/11/22/For-Fourth-Straight-Year-Obama-Thanksgiving-Message-God In contrast, please see President Lincoln’s Thanksgiving 1863 proclamation. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/read-abraham-lincolns-1863-thanksgiving-proclamation/ For the 4th time, Obama omits “endowed by our creator.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8Qx9oQIAwg George Washington said: "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens." "And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.” One of the basic American and conservative values is “In God We Trust.” That is not a value of the Left. For 50+ years the Left has undermined religion, “the opium of the people.” The same people who “cling to guns or religion.”

Is it about who can better national campaigns, the Republicans or Democrats? If that is the case, the Democrats win. They really know how to run national campaigns, and the Chicago Daley Political Machine that ran Barack Obama's two Presidential campaigns know how to get the job done. On the local level, however, conservatives are winning the political battles. More than 60 percent of governors are Republicans, a majority of the House of Representatives (with members elected from separate districts) are Republicans and a strong majority of city, county and state legislatures are Republicans. Even in the House of Representatives, about a third of the Democrats are either from California or New York. Yes, the big tail of the metropolitan areas are wagging the national political dog, but in most cities and in most states, conservative values and conservative political ideas win elections. If the question is which political ideology runs better national election campaigns, the Democrats win. If the question about which political philosophy works best and is in the best interest of the nation as a whole, then conservatives win. The Republicans/Conservtives need to get their act together when it comes to organizing national campaigns. They have the best ideas and their ideas are the ones that are working in more places across the country, but the big cities and big states (run by Democrats) dominate national politics, although their liberal ideas aren't working, aren't helping.
Oldprune November 24, 2012 at 03:19 AM
Clavell, it is not Reps are clueless. They did not campaign according to what people wanted to hear. Don't kid your self - Obama is for himself. Conservative idea is not popular with young and minority. They have no problem aborting babies. There is no shame having 3 kids with 3 dads. Understanding? What is to understand when Dads are not taking responsibility and letting those woman suffer in poverty? Why Mrs. Obama work on that instead of obesity? I am minority - I was single parents (without getting on welfare) because I worked and got my self education (stay till 2am to study) and graduated with honor (that was decades ago). We are loosing because decency and morals are gone. Every one wants free staff, stay home and get high....than working. Democrats know this is the way to stay in power.
B.C. November 24, 2012 at 07:19 AM
Do you really think the Democrats are willing to give up their base to the Republicans? Without the minority votes, Democrats couldn't win an election. Race baiting is their only winning strategy. Even if Republicans reached out to blacks, Latinos, Asians, women, etc., the Democrats and the mainstream media would still cry racism and sexism. Democrats are the ones who have sabotaged any plans for immigration reform offered by the Republican party (e.g. Barack Obama when he was Senator, Harry Reid) because they can't have this issued settled or they will lose. Yet they continue to blame the Republican party for being obstructionists. The Democrats were the ones who opposed the Civil Rights Act. Now they are the black community's best friends. Obama and his team are nothing but liars and hypocrites exploiting race for their own power. What has Obama done for any minority group? His community organizing left the black communities in Chicago worse off. What about black youth unemployment? Why didn't he fulfill his immigration reform promise to the Latino community when he had control of the House and Senate? Everything he does is politically motivated. He cares for no one but himself.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, #10 Here Comes the Regulatory Flood Costly rules held up for the election are about to roll over the economy. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324439804578115001809986588.html?mod=djemEditorialPage_h “Having come close to losing re-election because of a weak economy, Mr. Obama now keeps saying ‘our top priority has to be jobs and growth.’ This new regulatory flood will increase costs and uncertainty and make that priority that much harder to achieve.” Side note. The article points out the Obama admin has not published a list of regulations under consideration, required by Federal law every 6 months, since the Fall of 2011. This is yet another example of how Obama and his administration disregard the law whenever they please. Given the immense power of the Federal government, this is a threat to liberty itself.
Gregory Brittain November 25, 2012 at 07:11 PM
Obama said: "Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the cornerstones of our nation’s promise." Well, that explains why Obama wants to raise taxes on small business, increase the regulatory burden on small business, “spread the wealth around,” increase the cost of health insurance, and make everyone including small business pay more for “alternative energy.” I am glad Obama cleared that up. In addition, does anyone, including Obama supporters, believe that is what Obama really thinks?

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, #11 After the UK raised the top tax rate to 50%, 2/3 of British millionaires disappeared from the tax rolls. Clavell, your article & your responses tell me that you are the biggest problem facing the nation!! YES, YOU! You continue to put up the walls of divide with the construct of a two party system. What will it take for you to realize that it's not the Left vs. the Right, it's the State vs. You! Your party, which ever it is, is being controlled & manipulated by lobbyist from big business & all decisions are manipulated directly by the global elite, the bankers. Ever heard of the Bilderberg group? It's not some outlandish conspiracy theory. It's as factual as the divide you see in Washington. You are being distracted with party politics while the banks manage to enslave the globe through austerity. If you think for one second that we are not going to continue to pay more in taxation despite which party is in office, you have bumped your head. Look at the FEDERAL RESERVE. A private bank that introduces money into our economy out of thin air. All money introduced is done so with interest attached to it. We have to pay that. Our largest debt holder is not China! It is the FEDERAL RESERVE. You need to try and remember what liberty is! Start educating yourself on where it's going! Follow the liberty!! I will take you to school over any political subject! I'll bet you haven't been exposed to NDAA, S510, The Patriot Act, The New American Policy, Agenda 21, The Bilderberg Group, ect. You have a selection at the grocery store, even wonder why not in a presidential election? You should!
Diego Rose December 05, 2012 at 05:16 PM
Ron Paul deserved the white house more than any other elected official! To bad the global elite didn't want the same. The other puppets are much easier to manipulate

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, #17 Brown’s and the Dems’ tax increase is retroactive to January 1, 2012. Passage of Proposition 30 set off euphoria and expectations of higher spending for public employees. The California Teachers’ Association (CTA) trumpeted: ‘California students and working families won a clear victory today as voters clearly demonstrated their willingness to invest in our public schools and colleges and also rejected a deceptive ballot measure aimed at silencing educators, other workers and their unions.’” But, don’t spend the money quite yet. “California State Controller John Chiang has announced that total state revenue for the month of November 2012 fell $806.8 million, or 10.8%, below budget.” “Democrats thought they could hammer ‘the rich’ by convincing voters to pass Proposition 30 to create the highest state income tax in the nation. But it now appears that high income earners have already ‘voted with their feet’ by moving themselves and their businesses out of state, resulting in over $1 billion shortfall in corporate and income taxes last month and the beginning of a new financial crisis.” http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/12/07/CALIFORNIA-STATE-BUDGET-GOES-OFF-THE-CLIFF Let’s all watch and learn from the effects of CA having by far the highest state income tax rates in America.
