A Father's Day Gift Guide

Consider a guitar, comics, golf and more

Father’s Day is Sunday, and Loma Linda and the surrounding communities have several great places to purchase presents for dear old dad.

Give your father the gift of health by purchasing him a membership to the Drayson Center. The Drayson Center has aerobics studios, cardio and weight rooms, racquetball and tennis courts, and pools. It’s $50 a month for community members, and $425 for 13 months. For seniors, it’s $18 a month, or $198 for 13 months. 25040 Stewart St., Loma Linda. 909-558-4975

If golf is his game, take dad to the Loma Linda Golf Center, which has a driving range. Buy him as many bucket of balls as he can hit, and get ready to bond. 25838 Barton Road, Loma Linda. 909-796-7688.

If your dad likes music - and who doesn’t? - forget an iTunes gift card and visit the Mad Platter instead. This Riverside store has a wide selection of CDs, vinyl, and DVDs, as well as rare recordings. If you’re not entirely sure what kind of music dad likes best, pick up a gift certificate. 1223 University Ave., Riverside. 951-328-1600

If playing music is more your father’s thing, go to Redlands Guitar Shop and select the right instrument for him. This independent store is all about helping you get the right guitar, and if dad is a novice, sign him up for some lessons. 208 Orange St., Redlands. 909-792-7586

Finally, you can also treat your father to some locally brewed beer from Hangar 24 in Redlands. Either stop by and pick up some Orange Wheat, Pale Ale, beer glasses or koozies, or take dad down Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. or Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for a tasting.
