American Born al-Qaida linked cleric is killed

Media outlets across the country are reporting that U.S.-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed.

Al-Awlaki’s targeted killing was approved by President Barack Obama making him the first U.S. citizen ever placed on the CIA target list, according to several media reports.

Fort Hood shooter Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was a follower al-Awlaki’s. According to several reports, the cleric served as Imam at Masjid Ar-Ribat al-Islami in San Diego and has a master of arts degree in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.
