According to the USGS, there was a 3.9 earthquake near San Juan Capistrano in Orange County. But how many of us felt it?

Officials are reporting that a magnitude 3.9 magnitude earthquake shook the area at 10:37 a.m. west of San Juan Capistrano in Orange County.

Here's the breakdown of the USGS area affected by the quake:

  • 2 km (1 miles) W (259°) from San Juan Capistrano
  • 3 km (2 miles) NNE (14°) from Dana Point
  • 4 km (3 miles) SSE (159°) from Laguna Niguel
  • 13 km (8 miles) SSW (192°) from Mission Viejo
  • 23 km (14 miles) SSE (155°) from Irvine
  • 81 km (50 miles) SE (140°) from Los Angeles Civic Center
