Freeway Fire Causes Traffic Headache For I-10 Commuters

Flames charred brush near the freeway and singed the eaves on a building on Hunts Lane off of E Street.

A two-alarm fire along the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 10 at the I-215 transition scorched an area behind an office complex causing minor damage and forcing the evacuation of at least one building.

Flames charred brush near the freeway and singed the eaves on the building, which is on Hunts Lane west of E Street. The building is next to the I-10 in San Bernardino near Hospitality Lane.

Smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles and billowed on lanes of both freeways.

The cause of the fire was unknown, said San Bernardino Fire Battalion Chief Eric Esquival.

Workers from one of two buildings near the. Fire reported the blaze about 3:30 p.m.

Fire crews from Loma Linda and Colton responded with San Benardino Fire.

No one was injured during the firefight. But traffic on the westbound 10 was backed into Loma Linda and Redlands.
