Get Out: Five Ideas For Your Weekend

Labor Day Weekend delivers family-friendly fun.

This Labor Day Weekend is packed with family-friendly fun. Enjoy deep fried Oreos and Ferris wheels, gourmet food truck fare, a special family concert, an inspirational movie and some yummy sushi too.

Our goal is to make the Get Out planner as reliable as possible, but keep in mind, some events change at the last minute. We advise calling ahead just in case.

When/Where: Wednesdays-Sundays and Labor Day Monday from Sept.3-Oct.2 at the Pomona Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley, Pomona

Why Go: The fair opens this weekend, and it's difficult to summarize all it has to offer. It's difficult to contain its awesomeness. It is after all, the largest county fair in North America. We're talking deep fried Oreos, throwing darts at balloons to win giant stuffed bananas wearing sunglasses, horse races, culinary competitions, handmade arts and crafts, multiple circus performances and grandstand concerts featuring everyone from En Vogue and Salt-n-Pepa to Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson. Plus, there are rides! Our advice is to ride The Scrambler before eating the deep fried Oreos.
