Loma Linda Men Accused of Selling Marijuana, Making Criminal Threats

A Loma Linda man been accused of selling marijuana, and another Loma Linda man is accused of making criminal threats, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Deputies were investigating reports of marijuana sales from an apartment in the 25200 block of Van Leuven Street on Sunday May 26, sheriff's personnel said in a statement.

They were doing surveillance on the apartment when they observed a man identified as James Spivey, 29, of Loma Linda, come out of the apartment and engage in a verbal altercation and threaten another apartment resident, deputies said.

"Spivey was also in possession of marijuana," deputies said. "Spivey was arrested and booked into county jail for criminal threats."

Deputies served a search warrant at the apartment on Monday May 27, and they found marijuana and other evidence of marijuana sales, sheriff's personnel said.

Trayvon Golden, 21, of Loma Linda, was arrested and booked on suspicion of selling marijuana, deputies said.

Also on Monday May 27, deputies served another search warrant at Spivey's residence in the 25100 Block of Redlands Boulevard.

During a search of that apartment, deputies found ammunition for handguns, various knives and an SKS assault rifle "equipped with a bayonet and a 30 round magazine," deputies said.

Spivey has a prior conviction for criminal threats and is not supposed to be in possession of guns or ammunition, deputies said.

"Spivey will be charged with additional felony violations for possessing the weapons and assault rifle," deputies said.

Golden's bail was $50,000, deputies said. He was released from custody just after noon Tuesday May 28, according to inmate records.

Spivey remained locked up Wednesday May 29 at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, where his bail was $250,000, according to inmate records.
