National Weather Service Alert Calls for Hail

The storm system coming to the region Friday afternoon is expected to bring strong winds and severe rain.

A severe storm system is passing over the Inland Empire, including Loma Linda, Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service sent out an alert about 2 p.m., according to City News Service, warning area residents of winds gusting up to 50 mph, and the possibility of hail the size of pennies pelting the region.

Along with the wind and hail, there will be steady periods of rain and dangerous lightning strikes possible. Forecasters warned residents to seek shelter from the storm, and stay indoors unless necessary to go outside.
