Power Restored Monday to 400 Edison Customers, Driver Who Hit Pole to be Cited for Hit-and-Run, License Violation

Power was restored Monday to 400 Edison customers in Redlands, and a driver who crashed a vehicle into a utility pole Saturday night, triggering the outages, will be cited for hit-and-run and a license violation, utility and city officials said.

A vehicle crashed into an Edison pole at Center Street and Pine before 11 p.m. June 1, city spokesman Carl Baker said. The 911 call reporting the crash was received at 10:38 p.m., Southern California Edison representative Nancy Rodriguez Casanova said.

The driver, 21-year-old Angel Raul Ramirez, left the scene but was found later at Redlands Community Hospital with minor injuries, Baker said. Ramirez will be cited for hit-and-run and for driving with a license that has been suspended or revoked.

There were 400 customers without power from Saturday night until 4:58 a.m. June 3, when power was restored to all customers, Rodriguez Casanova said. The outage lasted more than 24 hours because it took time to repair and replace equipment damaged in the crash.
