Public Input Sought for Bike Lane Connectivity Plan in Redlands

City officials are seeking public input for a growing bike lane connectivity plan in Redlands.

The city began designating new bike lanes and installing lane-sharing "sharrows" symbols on some streets earlier this year.

Some cycling advocates, including Inland Empire Biking Alliance president Mark Friis, favor the lane-sharing connectivity plan. Some critics have questioned the cost and safety of the new lane markers, and details the overall plan.

All voices and opinions will be welcome at a City of Redlands public workshop scheduled 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday June 10 at  35 Cajon St., according to a city announcement.

"This workshop will summarize the input received from the community since a Jan. 23 workshop to discuss desired routes for bike lane connectivity within the City and which lanes the community considers as priority projects," city officials said.

"The City will incorporate information received during the workshops into a master planning document for implementation when funding becomes available."
