Upcoming Events at the San Bernardino County Museum

Events include beading and learning about Native Americans

The San Bernardino County Museum is hosting several lectures and special events this summer, with many just for kids.

June 8: The museum presents monthly book discussion gatherings, and June’s book is What’s the Matter with California: Cultural Rumbles from The Golden State and Why the Rest of Us Should be Shaking. Free. 7:30 p.m.

June 11: During the Beading! event, patrons will be able to to design and create their own ring or bracelet while learning all about beads and techniques. Activities are included with museum admission. 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

June 20 - 24: Growing Up Serrano summer day camp teaches kids 7 to 12 about the Native Americans from the area. 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

June 22: For kids 3 - 12, hands-on activities will be offered between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. This is included with museum admission.

June 22: At 7:30 p.m., Anthony Metcalf will present a lecture, “Processes that Affect Genetic Diversity.” Free.

June 27 - July 1: More Animals Around Us summer day camp is open to kids 7 - 12, allowing them to learn about the various animals in the area. 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

June 29: For kids 3 - 12, hands-on activities will be offered between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. This is included with museum admission.

July 6 - 8: Grandma’s Attic is a mini day camp featuring games for kids 4 to 7, to be enjoyed with an adult. 8:30 a.m. - noon.

July 9: Gatsby’s at the Grove features music, dancing, food and drink with a focus on the 1920s. Dress in your favorite period piece. 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. Reservations are required, and admission is $10 per person. Call 909-307-2669 ext. 227 for reservations. 

July 11 - 15: Playing with History summer day camp is for kids 7 to 12, and explores working and playing from five eras of California history. 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 

July 13: For kids 3 - 12, hands-on activities will be offered between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. This is included with museum admission.

July 25 - 29: Growing Up Serrano summer day camp teaches kids 7 to 12 about the Native Americans from the area. 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

July 26: For kids 3 - 12, hands-on activities will be offered between 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. This is included with museum admission.

August 6: During the Moon Party, the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers will have their telescopes available for viewing from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Free.

August 27: Wish Upon a Star! features star shows at noon, 12:45, 1:30, 2:45, 3:30 and 4:15 p.m. Seating is limited. $1 with museum admission.
