What:
We’re going out of this world to start summer by blending fun in the sun with a celebration under the stars! Join our star-studded crew - the AstronomyOutreach network, Astronaut Story Musgrave, who was on the Challenger’s first flight among five other notable space missions, and other science heroes who worked on projects including the Cassini Mission to Saturn and the Curiosity Rover Mission to Mars - for the StarLight Festival, sponsored by Pepsi.
Celebrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) – the future of America’s education and job growth! – as the streets of Big Bear Village fill with stargazers of all ages. In addition to witnessing a rare meteor shower that will result in the most dramatic display of shooting stars in more than a decade, adults and children can participate in stellar daytime and nighttime activities. From an exclusive viewing of Apollo moon rocks to 10-foot model rockets to a flight flown Challenger Space Shuttle tile and musical performances, there’s enough fun for everyone!
