Rain Master, an industry leader in smart irrigation products, recently gathered more than 100 industry experts for an iCentral Training session held at Toro's Riverside's irrigation division headquarters, one of Toro’s two research and development facilities. The event educated attendees about the latest mobile technology developed for Rain Master Control Systems, a smart irrigation product family owned by Toro.

Smart irrigation technology improves irrigation efficiency – from how water is applied to the landscape, to the frequency and duration of that application.  This technology also helps apply exactly the right amount of water, at the correct time, only to the targeted area, with resource-efficient results.

Rain Master's iCentral software allows irrigation experts to control their hardware through Internet Explorer. Launched in 2003, iCentral is Rain Master’s web-based water management system that allows central control for one or more RME Eagle™ Series irrigation controllers.  The iCentral web site also uses Wi-Fi to communicate with each field controller.

Bill Wolfe, Rain Master Control Systems’ product marketing manager, said that iCentral is being adapted for mobile platforms such as the iPad, and also for Google Chrome, which is the most widely-used browser.

"The seminar was a chance to give leaders in the irrigation and landscaping industry an update on iCentral and its applications," Wolfe said.

The industry experts later toured the Toro’s irrigation headquarters. During the tour they were shown some of Toro's hi-tech equipment such as a 3D imaging machine that creates models and tools from instructions entered into a computer, and an Electrical Discharge Machine that creates precision-cut equipment.

Wolfe added that the attendees were impressed with Rain Master's advances in irrigation technology. "The attendees said Rain Master is a leader in developing new technology to meet the needs of the irrigation industry," Wolfe said. "They also said that Rain Master's field and technical support is second to none."
