3 in Loma Linda Accused of Child Endangerment, Possessing Gun, Stolen Property

William McMillan, 29, LaRobert Hilton, 23, and Mister Berryman, 25, all of Loma Linda, were arrested Saturday May 26, according to the sheriff's department.

Three Loma Linda men were arrested last weekend on suspicion of endangering a 4-year-old boy and an 8-month-old girl, and other charges, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

A traffic stop at 10:22 a.m. Saturday May 26, when a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, led deputies to discover the driver, William McMillan, 29, was on active state parole for assault with a deadly weapon, a deputy with Loma Linda police said in a statement.

A parole search of the vehicle revealed "a large amount of stolen clothing items from Toys R US and another unidentified clothing store," Deputy Donald Patton reported.

McMillan was staying at an apartment in the 25200 Block of Cole Street with his girlfriend, 29-year-old LaRobert Hilton, Patton said. A search warrant was served at the apartment, where deputies contacted Hilton and her brother, Mister Berryman, 25, at the apartment.

Also at the apartment were Hilton's 4-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter, Patton said.

"Inside the home, Deputies located a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun laying out on the bedroom dresser accessible to the children in the home," Patton said. "The handgun was found to have been reported stolen several years ago."

Deputies also found more stolen clothing and "various pieces of paperwork containing the personal information of various victims," commonly used in identity theft, Patton said.

A records check revealed Berryman was on supervised community supervision for possessing a machine gun, and he was wearing an ankle bracelet monitor, Patton said.

"As part of Govenor Jerry Brown's Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring the state to lower its prison population by 30,000; offenders with non-violent, non-sexual, and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and can be placed on local supervision through County Probation," the Sheriff's Department statement said.

McMillan, Hilton and Berryman were arrested and booked into a county lockup. Berryman and McMillan were being held without bail, due to their parole-probation status, Patton said. Hilton was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The boy and girl were taken into protective custody and released to Children and Family Services, according to the Sheriff's Department.
