Armed Robbery Reported at Redlands Hotel, Gunman Gets Away

A hotel clerk was robbed at gunpoint Friday evening in west Redlands and the suspect got away before police arrived, according to a city spokesman.

Police were seeking info about the alleged gunman,
who was described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 130 to 140 pounds.

"He was unshaven with short brown hair and a tattoo on his neck," Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said in a statement distributed Monday afternoon. "He was last seen wearing a baseball cap with an Atlanta Braves 'A' logo, a faded black sweatshirt, baggy blue jeans and bright red athletic shoes."

The armed robbery was reported about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Country Inn & Suites, 1650 Industrial Park Ave., Baker said. The suspect was in the hotel lobby several minutes before he approached the clerk, displaying a handgun and demanding money from the cash register. He left the hotel on foot. No vehicle was seen.

Anyone with more info was urged to call Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681. Anonymous tipsters can text 274637 using the keyword "REDTIP." Some non-emergency crimes can be reported online at http://ci.redlands.ca.us/police/coplogic/start-report.html.
