August Redlands Auto Burglary Suspect Arrested Christmas Eve in Loma Linda

The man is on Community Supervised Release and he was previously in state prison, but due to Assembly Bill 109 he was released, deputies said.

A man accused of auto burglary in Redlands in August was arrested on suspicion of the same crime Dec. 24 in Loma Linda, according to the Sheriff's Department.

A suspect breaking into a vehicle was reported about 5:35 a.m. Monday at 25655 Redlands Blvd., Central Station personnel said in a statement.

A witness provided a description of the suspect's vehicle and direction of travel, and deputies stopped it at Anderson Street and Redlands Boulevard a minute later.

Oscar Weldon Overstreet, 47, of Rialto, was driving the suspect vehicle and he was identifed by a witness as the person who broke into the victim's vehicle, deputies said.

Overstreet was taken to Central Station, where he allegedly admitted to breaking into the victim's vehicle, deputies said.

"Inside Overstreet's vehicle several items were located that were determined through the investigation to be stolen property," deputies said.

Overstreet was arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on suspicion of vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property, according to inmate records. He was being held Wednesday without bail for probation violation.

"Overstreet is currently on Community Supervised Release and was previously in state prison, however due to Assembly Bill 109 he was released," deputies said.

In Redlands earlier this year, Overstreet was arrested Aug. 13 when police witnessed a man take property from an unlocked vehicle near Pharaoh's Lost Kingdom at 1101 California St.

They arrested Oscar Weldon Overstreet, 47, who was at that time a resident of San Bernardino, a city spokesman said.
