Man Found Deceased at Redlands Motel 6 Identified, Autopsy Inconclusive

The 21-year-old man was reported deceased in a room at the motel on West Colton Avenue about 9 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 1, a spokesman for Redlands police said.

An autopsy Friday did not reveal the cause of death of a San Bernardino man found unresponsive Wednesday morning at a motel in Redlands, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County coroner said.

Redlands police who investigated Wednesday said the death appeared to be a possible overdose, a police spokesman said.

The man was identified as Jeffrey Castro, 21, of San Bernardino, Sandy Fatland of the Sheriff-Coroner's Department said in a phone interview.

His death was reported about 9 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 1 at the Motel 6 in the 1100 block of West Colton Avenue.

The death was reported by the man sharing a room with Castro, Redlands police spokesman Carl Baker said. There were no signs of foul play.

Coroner's investigators have drawn no conclusions, Fatland said Friday.

"We don't know enough about it," Fatland said. "A lot of it's going to be toxicology."

Toxicology test results can take 6 to 8 weeks, Fatland said.
