BOOKING PHOTO RELEASED: Man Accused of Sidewalk Killing in Redlands

Gilbert Phillip Moreno was arrested about 7:40 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 3300 block of North Mountain Avenue in San Bernardino, according to inmate records.

A booking photo was released Monday of a man accused of killing a Redlands resident who was found fatally injured on a sidewalk on Webster Street early Saturday Oct. 20.

Gilbert Phillip Moreno, 21, of Redlands, was arrested about 7:40 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 3300 block of North Mountain Avenue in San Bernardino, according to inmate records.

Moreno was held without bail Monday, on suspicion of murder and participating in a criminal street gang, at West Valley Detention Center, according to inmate records.

Moreno is accused of murder in the death of Christopher Mykel Sanchez, 21, of Redlands, who sustained unspecified upper body trauma before police found him fatally injured in the 1200 block of Webster Street about 4 a.m. Oct. 20, according to Redlands police and coroner's personnel.

Paramedics from the Redlands Fire Department responded and pronounced Sanchez dead at the scene at 4:24 a.m., according to the coroner.

Detectives and other police personnel remained at the scene on Webster Street more than 12 hours Saturday investigating the alleged crime.

As of Monday afternoon police had released no information about the motive or the cause or manner of Sanchez' death, other than to state they were investigating a homicide.
