British Motorcyclist Killed in Big Bear

He collided with a pickup truck about 4:40 p.m. Friday Aug. 17, according to the coroner in San Bernardino County, Calif.

A British motorcyclist was killed Friday when he collided with a pickup truck on State Route 18 in the Big Bear City area, northeast of Redlands and Loma Linda, the coroner reported.

Ian Anthony Ferguson, 32, of Great Britain, was riding a rented 2009 Ducati Monster M696 south on SR 18 when his motorcycle drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, a coroner's statement said.

"The collision was reported by a witness and emergency medical services from Big Bear City Fire arrived and confirmed that Ferguson was dead at the scene," the statement said.

The collision was being investigated by the California Highway Patrol, which notified the British Consulate. Consulate officials were attempting to make notification to next-of-kin in England.
