Busted: Alleged Burglars Stole Angels Tickets, Tried to Sell Them on Craigslist

Matthew Larry Tappen, 18, and Kevin Michael Gallion, 19, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and possessing stolen property, a city of Redlands spokesman said.

Two young men are accused of burglarizing a home in Redlands, stealing jewelry, guitars and more than 60 sets of Angels baseball tickets, a city spokesman said Thursday.

The burglary occurred Monday April 30 in the 1400 block of Mills Avenue, and the victim found tickets for sale on Craigslist "in the same general area" as the stolen tickets, Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said.

Police contacted the seller and arranged a meeting to buy the tickets, Baker said.

About 3 p.m. Wednesday May 2, Matthew Larry Tappen, 18, of Redlands, met with undercover officers in the parking lot of the Krikorian Theater in downtown Redlands, Baker said.

Tappen "was arrested after he offered the stolen tickets for sale," Baker said.

Police then identified a second suspect, 19-year-old Kevin Michael Gallion.

Detectives found Gallion standing in front of a house in the 1100 block of 38th street in San Bernardino, and he was holding about 60 sets of stolen baseball tickets when police contacted him, Baker said.

Detectives searched Gallion's vehicle and other locations in Redlands and San Bernardino and recovered all the property taken in the April 30 burglary, Baker said.

"Tappen and Gallion were arrested on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property," Baker said.
