Shootings and a Crash Leave Several Dead

DRUG BUST

A routine traffic stop turned into anything but for a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy who ended up discovering a marijuana grow.

At 1:47 a.m. April 6, deputy Jarred Besheer pulled over a 2002 Honda driven by 35-year-old Eric Dennison in the area of the 600 block of Cedar Lane in Crestline.

Dennison had pulled into a home when the deputy signaled him to stop, sheriff’s officials said. Besheer found that Dennison had an expired driver’s license then spotted a scale commonly used for weighing drugs inside the Honda, officials said.  When he looked over the home, the deputy noticed the windows were covered with black plastic and an extremely bright light was on in an upstairs room.

Marijuana Eradication Team members served a search warrant and at 6:17 a.m. They found seedlings and cloned marijuana plants in an elaborate environment that included temperature controls, ballast and indoor grow lamps, officials said. A small quantity of methamphetamine was also found deputies said.

Dennison was booked at the West Valley Detention Center, on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. His bail was set at $25,000.

ATTEMPTED MURDER

A 29-year-old Rialto man has been arrested on suspicion that he shot an unidentified man in Highland.

Sheriff’s officials arrested Ronald McFoy at a home in the 1300 block of Fillmore in Rialto. Investigators say McFoy shot a man in the back near the 26000 block of Baseline Street at 11:23 p.m. on April 2.

Officials said McFoy fled the scene, but was tracked down by Highland Police Gang Team. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center. His bail was set a million. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

ROBBER ARRESTS

Colton Police arrested two men accused of robbing a couple of teenagers on April 1.

Officers said at 10:42 p.m., an 18- and 19-year-old were standing in front of their apartment at 800 E. Washington St. in Colton when Rudy Avila, 20, and Andrew Murrieta, 21, both of Colton, confronted them. The two demanded the teens' wallets, officials said. One of the victims was punched in the face and his wallet was taken. The suspects fled on foot to a nearby apartment.

Officers found the apartment and made the arrest. Avila and Murrieta were booked into San Bernardino County Jail for robbery.

ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE

A Colton man was arrest April 1 after he stabbed a man repeatedly during a fight.

Colton Police officers said James Aguilar, 19, of San Bernardino, had been visiting a friend at 2170 N. Rancho Road when he was approached by Vincent Delaros. The two began to argue and the fight escalated, police said.

Delarosa repeatedly stabbed the man multiple times, officials said. Aguilar was taken to a hospital. When officers arrived to question Delarosa, he was leaving the area, police said. Delarosa was arrested and booked into San Bernardino County Jail on of attempted homicide.

The investigation into the stabbing continues. Police ask anyone with information to call Colton Police Department Investigations Division Detective Eric Campa at (909) 370-5028

ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE

Colton Police are looking for a gunman who shot a 30-year-old man outside a Colton home.

The shooting happened at 11:44 p.m. April 1 in the 400 block of S. 10th Street. Investigators said the man, whose name was not released, had been standing outside the home when a small white vehicle passed by. The rear passenger called out something to the victim then opened hitting him multiple times.

The vehicle fled. The victim was taken to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing. Police as anyone with to call Colton Police Department Investigations Division Detective Jack Morenberg at (909) 370-5022.

HOMICIDE

A 20-year-old Rialto man was shot and killed while waiting in a fast food drive through

Joshua Huizar had been sitting in his vehicle in a Taco Bell drive through at 1 a.m. when a robbery occurred, said San Bernardino County Coroner’s.

The armed robber fled the area of the Taco Bell on Baseline Street and Willow Avenue in Rialto.

Huizar was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he died at 1:45 am. Rialto Police Department is Investigating.

FATAL COLLISION

Two men were killed and one was injured April 7 after their car slammed into the back of a flat bed trailer.

California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 3:58 a.m. They said the men’s 2005 Honda Accord had been traveling northbound on Interstate 15 in one of the slow lanes at the Lenwood Road off ramp in Barstow when they crashed into the collided with the trailer, according to the CHP.

Officers found three men in the car. Two died at the scene. The third was taken to a local hospital. The names of the deceased were not released pending notification of next of kin.

The CHP is investigating the incident.

FATAL FIND

A San Bernardino man was found fatally wounded by San Bernardino Police officers responding to a report of shots fired.

Issah Jones, 42, was found at 9:44 p.m. April 5 in the area of 1400 block of Wall Street in San Bernardino. Neighbors called police after hearing several shots fired in the area.

Officials did not say Jones had been shot, but say he had trauma to the upper body. He was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died at 10:34 p.m.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, coroner’s officials said.
